EDUCATION GROUP'S PURPOSE

The purpose of the Education Group is stated in the RNZPBA Constitution.

The constitution says that the goal of the Education Group is to provide education in all aspects of pipe band work to people at every level of experience and ability.

EDUCATION GROUP PROGRAMME

The Education Group prepares an annual Management Plan which sets out its proposed programmes and activities for the year. These are "national" programmes yet support education at local and regional levels. See Annual Management Plan (Acrobat file) to view the current year's programmes and activities.

FUNDING FOR EDUCATION GROUP PROGRAMMES AND ACTIVITIES

Apart from baseline funding for the general operation of the Group, funding of programmes comes from grants and contributions made by those who benefit from the programmes.

EDUCATION GROUP LEADERSHIP

Each year the RNZPBA Management Board appoints a leader of the Education Group. In turn, the Leader is responsible for forming a Management Group to share that leadership. The Management Group includes Centre Education Co-ordinators, who are appointed by their Centres. The Education Group leader is responsible to the RNZPBA Management Board.

RNZPBA COLLEGE OF PIPING AND DRUMMING

The College of Piping and Drumming is not part of the Education Group as such, although the College has a role of giving advice and making recommendations to the Group on matters such as the appointment of music tutors for activities like National Summer School.

The College is responsible for setting curriculum, arranging and conducting examinations for certificates, and awarding certificates. Refer to the College of Piping section of the RNZPBA web site for information about the college, its officers, and all matters relating to curriculum and certificates.
