We are
pleased to announce that the youth band programme will recommence this year,
under the new name “RNZPBA Youth Pipe Band".
After an unplanned
absence last year, we have the programme ready to roll once
again and are pleased to announce that Ali McKenzie from Invercargill will
be the Musical Director of this new band. Assisting Ali will be Piping Tutor
Davey Welsh from Wellington and Drumming Tutor Davy Clark from Invercargill.
This team
of top tutors will lead the new Youth Band into the future with an exciting
high performance programme that will incorporate rehearsal weekends,
professionally run concerts and attendance at festivals and special events
with the prospect of an International Tour next year to either Canada or
Scotland.
Applications
for auditions are now open, with the application forms available on the RNZPBA Youth Pipe Band page or you can contact Mike Sander directly
at education@nzpipebands.org.nz for one to be sent to you.
Applications will close on 21st February 2020.
A separate
band has been selected to represent our Youth for a performance at the 2020 New
Zealand Military Tattoo being held in Palmerston North on 4th April
2020. This band will assemble on 2nd April to prepare for their
performance.
