RNZPBA Summer School is for pipers and drummers of all levels of ability and experience.  It’s not kids’ stuff.  Programmes and tuition will be designed to match your personal and band playing skills.  Those at the earlier stages of playing will be helped to improve and progress.  More advanced pipers and drummers, including band leaders, will be catered for.  National  Summer School will go ahead if 100 pre-enrolments are received by 1 June 2006.

TOP CLASS TUTORS from New Zealand and overseas lead the tuition at National Summer School.

WHEN AND WHERE:  National Summer School is a 5 day residential course.  It will be held in Christchurch.  It is not a requirement to “live in”.  Participants may choose to arrange their own accommodation.

ENROLMENT PREREQUISITE for pipers is the ability to play Green Hills of Tyrol (or similar) on the pipes, and drummers on the drum!

THE PROGRAMME will focus on individual and group tuition.  At the start of National Summer School your playing level is assessed by tutors to help match teaching and learning to your experience.  The tutors will also take account of any special goals you would like to achieve during the school.

THE COST of National Summer School is carefully planned to keep costs as low as possible for each person attending.

The 2008 fees are:

 Summer School Fee         $175
*Accommodation and Meals $320

The full enrolment  fee is $175.  $50 is paid with pre-enrolments by 1 June.  The remaining $125 is paid by 1st November.

*For those choosing to live in, the full board fee of $320 is payable on arrival at Summer School.

BANDS CAN HELP. Many bands actively support the enrolment of their pipers and drummers.  At previous National Summer Schools many bands and some notable Centres helped their members financially

SUPERVISION.  Younger members of National Summer School who are living in will be supervised by adult staff.  We are looking for suitable “school parents” to take on the job of supervision.  Please ring Robyn Forbes if you could be interested.   Phone 03 3492 037
