RNZPBA Tutorial Series

The tutorial series prepared by Greg Wilson (Principal - College of Piping) has resumed.  The February tutorial is titled "So you want to be a better band?" and is available for download here

Association Directory 

RNZPBA, Centre and Band contacts,
updated to be in effect 21 January 2010.  The changes reflect changes in Executive Officer, and Education Group manager.  The Board ackowledges the official retirement of John Harrison as Executive Officer, after 20 years of dedicated service.  See the MANAGEMENT page.

Pipe Band personality receives QSM

Jim Fraser of Christchurch was recognised in the New Year honours list, for services to pipe bands. The Press article can be found here .  Jim was apponited a Life Member of the RNZPBA at the 2009 AGM, at the ChCh Contest.

Contest Rules - Dec 2009

Following this year’s remit round there have been a number of changes to the Contest Rules.  Please discard the 2008 edition and substitute the 2009 Contest Rules.

2009/2010 Champion of Champions

Unfortunately, a lack of sponsorship will result in a Champion of Champions purse will not be avialable this season.  The Management Board will endevour to secure the required monies to reinstigate the series next year.

Adjudicator Selection - 2010

Bands will have received the Ballot Paper for Music Judges selection for the NZ Pipe Band Championship in Masteron 12/13 March 2010. Please note - returns must be received by 5pm Friday 16 October. 
Please also note,  Mr Robert (Bob) Irvine, a nominnee on the Piping panel, passed away suddenly on 20 September.  Our condolences to the family.  Bands - please make your selection from the remaining 13 names.

2011 Contest host approved

At the RNZPBA Annual General Meeting, a proposal to run the 2011 Championships in Timaru was submitted by the South Cantebrury Centre.  The proposal was accepted - details will follow soon.
